Restaurant QR Ordering System
QR-based ordering — customers browse the menu and place their order from their own phone, and it appears in the kitchen queue.
Project Overview
Developed a QR-based digital ordering system that lets customers browse menus and place orders directly from their own phones. Each table has a unique QR code; the customer scans, browses, customises and submits straight into the kitchen queue, with no app to install.
Business Challenge
Manual ordering puts a waiter between the customer and the kitchen. During busy periods the queue of questions and hand-written tickets grows, and orders depend on handwriting being read correctly.
Proposed Solution
Developed a QR-based digital ordering system that lets customers browse menus and place orders directly from their own phones. Each table has a unique QR code; the customer scans, browses, customises and submits straight into the kitchen queue, with no app to install.
Technical Challenge
Getting an order to the kitchen reliably. Implemented WebSocket delivery with automatic reconnection and a polling fallback, so an order still reaches the kitchen if the connection drops.
